EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - At its core, the “Handle with Care” program is a simple notification system.

“It allows us to give them that grace.. give them some time to process.. and were there when their ready to talk,” said Superintendent for Pike County school corporation, Dr. Suzanne Blake.

When local law enforcement or EMS respond to a situation involving a child, the program gives them the ability to send a confidential notification to designated school personnel.

“When you see a kid struggling throughout the day and I know I have been there the night before or one of our deputies.. and I knew what was going on but the teachers didn’t at that point.. I mean it’s helpful that the teachers know there is something going on,” said Pike County sheriff’s office, Sheriff Jason McKinney.
