SARASOTA, Fla. ( WWSB ) - After nearly four years in police custody a Sarasota woman has been found guilty in the death of her 14-week-old son.
Lily Scheip was found guilty late Thursday night of manslaughter after being previously charged with second degree murder.
Manslaughter carries a maximum sentence of up to 15 years, whereas a second-degree murder charge could have meant life in prison.

This week, Scheip’s legal team worked to prove that there was no malicious intent surrounding Dominic Scheip’s death, to get the charged reduced.
