LONG TERM: Core of the heat wave takes place Monday/Tuesday with cooler weather mid-week

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - Quiet and muggy weather will continue overnight as most folks stay dry heading into Saturday morning. Lows will be in the 70s by then.

The August heat intensifies even more on Saturday. Highs surge into the mid-90s with the heat index climbing over 100° in a few locations. Many spots stay dry with only a small chance for an isolated afternoon downpour. Saturday night will be muggy and warm.

However, we’ll be keeping an eye on a cluster of storms that may sneak into our far northern counties by sunrise Sunday. Lows only fall into the low and mid-70s. Sun
