A man in his 60s was found dead at a storage unit facility Wednesday afternoon, and the cause of his death is under investigation.
Staff at Gillette Self Storage were checking abandoned campers on the property Wednesday when they found a dead man in one of the units, Police Deputy Chief Brent Wasson said. It appears that the man had died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Campbell County Coroner Paul Wallem said the man was Michael T. Krainock, formerly of Jackson. Krainock, who was born in 1967, appeared to be transient, Wallem added.
Wallem said a handwritten note, dated December 2022, was found next to Krainock’s body, which lines up with the last time that Krainock’s family had heard from him.
The cause and manner of death are still under investigation, Wallem said.
