CONWAY — Days after Ronnie Todd Jr. was sentenced to life in prison for killing his ex-girlfriend and best friend, his attorney told the court that jurors ended their deliberations too quickly and his client should get a new trial in a different venue.

But Circuit Court Judge Michael Nettles disagreed, saying jurors could have considered the evidence so overwhelming that they didn't need long to decide.

"They may not have needed to do that," Nettles said, adding that the jurors also saw and heard the evidence exhibits during the trial before deliberation.

Todd was convicted Aug. 11 of killing 30-year-old Emily Richitelli and 44-year-old John Ashley Altman in the early hours of July 21, 2022. His life sentences for the two counts of murder will run concurrently.
