MYRTLE BEACH — A North Carolina teen accused of leading police on a high-speed chase while one of his passengers shot at officers will remain in jail until his trial.
Circuit Judge Michael Nettles denied bond on Aug. 15 for Riley Pegram, 18, who is charged with three counts of attempted murder as well as kidnapping, failing to stop for a police officer and two weapons charges.
"Given all the facts and circumstances of the case, I do agree that he is a danger to the community and I do believe he is a risk of flight,” Nettles said.
Stuart Axelrod, Pegram’s attorney, asked the judge for home detention. He said Pegram was driving the car while his girlfriend, her friend and one of Pegram’s friends rode in passenger seats.
