NORTH CHARLESTON — Police have arrested a man in connection to a 2023 shooting that left two people dead and another person injured.

According to a release from the North Charleston Police Department, 21-year-old Kylil Smith was arrested on Aug. 15 and charged with two counts of murder, one count of attempted murder, and a weapons possession charge in relation to the shooting.

The arrest is in relation to a shooting that occurred the afternoon of Aug. 25, 2023, in the Dorchester Village area of North Charleston. The Post and Courier reported at the time that police responded to a residence on Leslie Street for a possible home invasion.

Court records show that Smith has another pending murder charge. He is currently being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center without bond.
