PADUCAH, Ky. (WSIL) -- Two people were arrested in connection to an investigation into an animal left out in the heat.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office said animal control responded to a distress call for a dog in the 800 block of Washington Street on July 5, 2025. The sheriff's office said the dog was found seizing on hot concrete and was rushed to a local veterinarian, however, did not survive.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office investigated the incident and said Jimmy Reynolds, 84, and Tammy Richmond, 51, had left the dog in a car from July 4 until July 5, with temperatures averaging 89 degrees.

Upon returning home, the two were accused of leaving the dog without immediate medical attention. The sheriff's office said Richmond eventually placed the dog in a small metal basket
