ATLANTIC CITY — At the 100th anniversary of the All Wars Memorial Building on Friday, it wasn't just about the longevity of a building but what it symbolically meant for all veterans, not just those in the African American community, leaders said.

"There are veterans rights and services that are being cut and discontinued in this country," City Council Vice President Kaleem Shabazz said in his opening remarks.

Rather than making a speech about politics, he said, "I'm going to make a speech about veterans."
