NEWPORT, Tenn. (WVLT) - Dustin Ottinger lost his mom in 2024 to cancer. This loss sparked his desire to help others battling the disease.

“The shortfall that a lot of people go through that it puts on families puts on their self, dealing with cancer. Just anything helps, and we figured this would help,” Ottinger said.

Ottinger owns a towing company in Cocke County. He said he thought a car would draw in a lot of support from the community.

“During the last auction they had for the Cruise for Cancer, me and Melissa decided we’d come up with a car that we could draw more money,” Ottinger said.

Ottinger learned first-hand the struggles that families have to go through when battling cancer.

“They diagnosed her in June, and by August she passed away, so it’s pretty fast,” Ottinger said. “W
