CLEMSON, S.C. (WSPA) - A Clemson football player was arrested on suspicion of a DUI, according to a statement from head coach Dabo Swinney.
The announcement came from a media release on the Clemson sports fan site "Tigernet." In the post, Swinney shared that 23-year-old Ian Schieffelin was arrested for a suspected DUI. Schieffelin originally played for four years with the Clemson basketball team before being offered a spot in the football program.
"We are aware of Ian Schieffelin's arrest on suspicion of DUI," said Swinney. "Clemson Athletics has a clear policy by which we will abide, so Ian will miss some competition to start this season as a consequence. We're obviously very disappointed by the situation, but we are very thankful no others were involved and no one was hurt."
