On Sunday at 4:58 p.m. an updated severe thunderstorm warning was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until 5:30 p.m. for Greene County.
Residents should be prepared for wind gusts of up to 60 mph.
"At 4:58 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Point Marion, or 9 miles northeast of Star City, moving southeast at 20 mph," comments the weather service. "Expect damage to roofs, siding, and trees."
Locations impacted by the warning include Morgantown, Masontown, Point Marion, Brookhaven, Fairchance, Smithfield, Bobtown, Nemacolin, Greensboro and Cheat Lake.
The weather service states, "Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds."
