(WENY) -- New York State Police and local law enforcement are stepping up patrols as part of the national “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over” campaign, which runs through Labor Day, September 1.

Officials say Labor Day is one of the busiest travel weekends of the year, and it often brings more crashes, injuries, and fatalities on state roads. Drivers can expect sobriety checkpoints, marked patrol cars, and even Concealed Identity Traffic Enforcement vehicles, known as CITE cars. Those vehicles blend in with regular traffic until lights are activated, giving troopers a better chance to spot dangerous driving.
