Children as young as 11 have been allowed to use sunbeds in beauty and tanning salons across Kent , new figures have revealed. Data obtained through a Freedom of Information request shows there have been at least 13 cases in the county between 2015 and 2025.

A total of £5,280 in fines has been issued to those salons found to be breaking the law. The data was uncovered by The Devonshire Clinic, a leading dermatology clinic specialising in skin cancer.

They asked local authorities across the UK to disclose any reports of sunbed use involving individuals aged 17 or under. The request was made in reference to The Sunbeds (Regulation) Act 2010, which prohibits commercial sunbed use by anyone under the age of 17.
