Donald Trump announced Monday that he intends to sign an executive order eliminating mail-in ballots and banning what he called “seriously controversial” voting machines before the 2026 midterm elections.

In a lengthy post on his Truth Social platform, Trump doubled down on his long-standing claims that mail-in voting facilitates fraud and undermines public confidence in elections. “I am going to lead a movement to get rid of MAIL-IN BALLOTS, and also, while we’re at it, Highly ‘Inaccurate,’ Very Expensive, and Seriously Controversial VOTING MACHINES,” he wrote, adding that paper ballots with watermarks are “faster” and leave “no doubt” about results.
