NORTH PLATTE, Neb. (KNOP) - A search to find a missing kayaker is underway at Lake McConaughy.
According to Keystone-Lemoyne Fire Chief Ralph Maul, Keith County Dispatch received the call at 6:19 p.m. MDT on Sunday for a missing male kayaker near Admiral’s Cove
Search efforts continued until 9:30 p.m. MDT. that day.
Fire Chief Maul said search efforts are on hold this morning at Admiral’s Cove due to isolated and scattered storms moving into the area.
Meantime, Maul is asking the public to stay out of the search area to allow rescue personnel to operate safely.
Several Nebraska Game and Parks sonar boats and a dive team are in place ready to resume the search once the system rolls out.
