GRETNA, La. —

A Gretna Police Department officer has been arrested and accused of drunk driving in a police cruiser.

Gretna Detective Brittany Pujol was arrested in New Orleans and is now on leave, according to Gretna Police Deputy Chief Jason DiMarco. Advertisement

According to DiMarco, the investigation into Pujol's arrest will be handled by the New Orleans Police Department.

However, there will be an internal investigation into the matter, according to DiMarco.

According to court records, Pujol has a criminal history. She was arrested for domestic abuse of a child under 13 in 2023, according to court records.

DiMarco said an internal investigation was done into that incident, but no wrongdoing was found criminally.

In that case, the district attorney also refused the charges.
