BOSTON —

A man associated with a pro-Palestinian group suspected in a series of vandalism acts targeting "prominent public institutions" returned to court Monday after the Massachusetts State House in Boston was vandalized with paint last month.

Jermaiah Yusuf Sawaqed, 25, of Everett, was arrested and arraigned last week on several charges in connection with the incident.

Sawaqed is accused of vandalizing the State House, the George Washington Memorial in the Public Garden and two buildings at MIT.

Sawaqed also allegedly left two improvised explosive devices on the Boston Common.

He did not have an attorney last week due to the public defender strike.
