WILKES-BARRE, PA — A 35-year-old man was hospitalized early Saturday morning after being stabbed multiple times while reportedly attempting to stop a group assault on South Main Street, according to Wilkes-Barre City Police.

The incident unfolded around 6:51 a.m. when the victim, a Wilkes-Barre resident, exited a business in the 300 block of South Main and saw a man he recognized being attacked by three individuals. When he stepped in to help, one of the suspects allegedly turned on him and stabbed him several times in the torso.
