NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - North Charleston Police say a firearm found during a traffic stop led to a man’s arrest.

Tony Smalls, 38, is charged with possession of a stolen firearm and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, according to jail records.

A judge set a personal recognizance bond on the stolen gun charge and a $10,000 bond on the felon possessing a firearm charge, jail records state.

Police conducted a traffic stop at the intersection of Rivers and Aviation Avenues at approximately 3:40 a.m. on Saturday. Police said the officer detected the odor of marijuana when approaching the vehicle and conducted a probable cause search.

Police recovered a firearm that had been reported stolen to the North Charleston Police Department in 2019.
