Governor DeSantis Orders State and U.S. Flags Lowered on Wednesday to Honor Late Public Servant

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Fla. – Florida Governor Ron DeSantis issued a memorandum today directing flags to be flown at half-staff to honor the late State Representative Joseph Casello, who passed away on July 18 at the age of 73. The directive applies to all state and local government buildings in Palm Beach County, as well as the State Capitol in Tallahassee, from sunrise to sunset on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Casello’s long career was marked by decades of public service across various roles. He began his career as a firefighter in his hometown of Worcester, Massachusetts, a role he held for 30 years. He also served as a Non-Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Air Force in the early 1970s.
