Wastewater crews to perform urgent repairs, expect detours until Friday.

TAMPA, Fla. – Starting Tuesday, August 19, 2025, drivers in Tampa will face significant traffic disruptions due to an emergency road closure at 104 S. Himes Avenue and West Roland Street. The closure is necessary for the City of Tampa’s wastewater department to perform urgent repairs on a damaged gravity main pipe.

The affected area is the northbound lane of South Himes Avenue, which will be closed between West Roland Street and West Kennedy Boulevard. The city has established a detour to guide traffic around the work zone.

Northbound drivers on South Himes Avenue will be directed to turn west onto West Azeele Street, then north onto South Dale Mabry Highway, and finally east to West Kennedy Boulevard.
