SAGUARO LAKE, AZ (AZFamily) — Search efforts continue a day after a man went missing while paddleboarding at Saguaro Lake .
Rescue crews are searching for 65-year-old Richard Powers, who was last seen around 5:45 a.m. Sunday in the lake near boat ramp 1 in the Tonto National Forest.
“He did call friends and let them know he was coming out here paddleboarding about 5:45 this morning,” said William Jinks with the Maricopa County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said a boater called for help after discovering a paddleboard with a cellphone and shoes on it around 8:30 a.m. near Captain’s Nook, but there has been no sign of Powers.
“His friends did say that he historically always had a waist type life jacket on,” Jinks said.
Powers is described as a White male with gray hair and green eyes.
