WEST BATON ROUGE PARISH, La. (WAFB) - Three mosquito samples have tested positive for the West Nile Virus in West Baton Rouge Parish.
According to West Baton Rouge Mosquito Control, the samples came back positive after they were submitted to the LSU Disease Diagnostic Lab for testing. In total, 26 mosquito samples were submitted for testing.
In response to the positive samples, officials plan to conduct nighttime spray truck missions between Monday, August 18, and Wednesday, August 20. Parks, recreation facilities, and schools will also be sprayed.
You are being urged to do your part to protect yourself and others. Officials said you should do your best to eliminate or treat all standing water around your home, which can become a breeding ground for mosquitoes.
