Are Americans getting another stimulus check from the government?
Rumors began circulating once again last week that the U.S. government would be issuing stimulus checks to certain taxpayers, depending on your income bracket.
Here's what to know:
What did the rumors claim?
The rumors claimed the Internal Revenue Service and the Treasury Department have approved $1,390 stimulus checks that will be distributed to low- and middle-income taxpayers by the end of the summer.
Are stimulus checks actually coming?
According to a spokesperson for the IRS, that's not actually the case.
"There is no recovery rebate credit for taxpayers to claim," the spokesperson told NBC Chicago.
And even if checks were planned, Congress has not passed legislation to authorize such payments.
