LANSING, Mich. (WILX) -If you’ve ever been pulled over by a police officer, the last thing you might say to them is “thank you.”
But that’s exactly the response a mid-Michigan cop received following a traffic stop that had a life changing impact.
Officer Dillon Platte has been with the Lansing Police Department for less than two months.
Before LPD, Officer Platte spent nearly three years on the Eaton Rapids police force, where he was involved in a number of traffic stops, some that became all too routine.
One of his most frequent traffic stops involved Eaton Rapids resident Christina Latoski, behind the wheel of her 1996 red Chevy Camaro.
“Her tail lights never worked, she always was driving around in the dark, her headlights were always out,” Officer Platte recalls.
