ANN ARBOR – Michigan finally has some closure on the sign-stealing saga that has engulfed the football program since its 2023 national championship season.
While many current coaches and players weren’t with the Wolverines from 2021-23 when former staffer Connor Stalions was operating what the NCAA deemed to be an impermissible scouting scheme, the punishment the governing body of college athletics levied on Friday will still impact this year’s team.
The penalty most likely to affect the Wolverines on the field is the two-game suspension for head coach Sherrone Moore, who will be sidelined for Week 3 against Central Michigan and the Big Ten opener at Nebraska the following week.
The NCAA considered a multiyear postseason ban as an appropriate punishment for Michigan’s violations. Howeve
