VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. — The City of Virginia Beach is gearing up for Hurricane Erin, on land and in the water.
Rough waters and dangerous rip currents are some of the threats that Tom Gill from the Virginia Beach Lifesaving Service said the Oceanfront could see later this week.
“When it gets here, it's going to be so big and so rough and so dangerous, nobody should be in the water during this. We're going to do everything we can to keep people out of the water,” Gill said.
Gill told 13News Now that Hurricane Erin, while not expected to make landfall, could generate more powerful waves, leaving potentially dangerous conditions for anyone in the water.
