AUSTIN, Texas (KWTX) - Texas Democrats have ended a weeks long walkout that forced a special session to end without approval of new congressional maps redrawn by Republicans in a bid to gain five new seats in Congress.
Dozens of Texas House Democrats left the state in protest to Republican plans to pass legislation during Special Session that would redraw congressional maps they say would favor republicans.
Democratic State Representative John Bucy feels the walkout was successful.
“Before we broke quorum, this was going to happen in the dark,” said Rep. Bucy. “We were going to see Donald Trump and Greg Abbott steal five congressional seats from the people of Texas without anyone realizing this was going on.”
