Melissa Stockwell is a four-time Paralympian in swimming and paratriathlon with a bronze medal at the 2016 Rio Paralympic Games, but she takes on many titles besides "athlete."

Stockwell moved to Colorado Springs in 2019 and most recently competed in the 2024 Paris Paralympics where she placed fifth in the paratriathlon with her kids, Dallas and Millie, present for the first time.

Stockwell had early Colorado connections, having graduated from the University of Colorado-Boulder in 2002 before she was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army transportation corps.
