Rick Darlington, the legendary coach who guided Apopka to three state titles , will never come right out and say his team will be great.

The veteran coach, who heads into his fourth season at DeLand, does, however, always have high expectations for his teams. With the talent he has returning this season those expectations are understandable.

The nucleus of his famed single-wing offense is back and when a single-wing team has experienced players who know Darlington’s complicated system, watch out.

Many of those returnees are still young. Running back Taihj Moore could very well be the best running back in the state for the Class of 2027. As a freshman last season he ran for 1,380 yards and 19 touchdowns on just 160 carries. That’s a whopping 8.6 yards a carry. Even more scary about M
