CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WWBT) - The Chesterfield Police Department says a 37-year-old man faces charges after a barricade situation on Saturday ended in a shootout.

The police department said just after 5 p.m., officers received a domestic call involving a weapon in the 3500 block of West Hundred Road.

Police say the suspect - identified Tuesday as Christopher R. Wirth - refused to leave the house.

“Officers shut down the roadway and secured the area as Wirth continued to remain in the house,” police said. “At one point, the investigation indicates, Wirth used a rifle to fire several shots out of the house’s front window. Officers on scene returned fire. A short time later, Wirth exited the house and was taken into custody without further incident.”
