PINE KNOLL SHORES, N.C. (WITN) - Multiple Eastern Carolina beaches are flying double red flags, telling people to stay out of the water.
Pine Knoll Shores Fire & EMS says their beach is closed for swimming.
The town says going in the water with double red flags means you’re putting yourself and first responders at serious risk.
On the Outer Banks, Corolla, Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Kitty Hawk also raised double red flags this morning, saying rip currents today are life-threatening.
Other beaches are flying single red flags as a tropical storm warning is in effect for the coast.
