STATESBORO, Ga. (WSAV) — The unsolved murder case of a mother of five is still being investigated by the Statesboro Police Department (SPD) 13 years after her death.
Early Sunday morning at approximately 2:50 a.m., Akeila Rochelle Martin was shot and killed while in the parking lot of the Platinum Lounge. According to SPD, a large crowd of 200 to 300 people were at the scene of the crime when the incident occurred.
Two victims were located at the scene of the shooting: Sadondra Brianna Scarboro and Akeila Martin. Scarboro was taken to the hospital while Martin did not survive her injuries.
Police interviewed a large number of people present during the incident and the case was later turned over to Detective Keith Holloway.
