ESSEXVILLE, MI – A STEM center or an innovation center? In front of the high school, or behind the high school?
There is still a lot to hash out, but the Essexville-Hampton Board of Education this month made it clear during its most recent meeting: the district will move forward with plans to build a new education center after reviewing two potential proposals for utilizing a $1 million state grant that must be spent by September 2027.
The board voted on Aug. 11 to pursue development of the Essexville Hampton Center for Innovation and Community Education, authorizing its building and grounds committee to create detailed plans for a freestanding facility that would house robotics, esports, and community programs.
It’s still unclear what exactly will be included in the facility or where i
