The Duval County Public Schools School Board chairwoman said there should be a district-wide grace period for parents to adjust to school uniform policies.

News4JAX spoke to the chair of the School Board, who represents the Westside district, Charlotte Joyce.

“I think what we had questions about, a grace period. What we need to have across the district is a grace period for our students and our parents to make sure that their needs are being taken care of,” Joyce said.

The uniform policy has kept some students out of class at Westside High just days into the new school year. A father said that the lack of a grace period for this year’s uniform rule changes is affecting students’ education.
