EVANSVILLE, Ind — A 48-year-old Evansville man faces more than 17 years in federal prison for disturbing online activity.

Casey Smith pleaded guilty to two counts of distributing sexually explicit material involving minors. He will also serve 10 years of supervised release after his prison term.

Court documents show that in January 2022, Evansville police received a cybertip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.

The alert said Smith uploaded 16 files containing child sexual abuse material to the instant messaging app Kik, including depictions of prepubescent children and minors under 12.
