KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT) - The University of Tennessee Police Department announced on Tuesday it has added two new K-9 officers to its force.
The two Labradors, named Doc and Holt, are trained in Explosive Ordnance Detection and vapor wake detection, which officials said enhances the university’s safety and security capabilities.
Their names carry deep ties to the University of Tennessee. Doc is named in tribute to Dr. Spencer Gregg, a respected colleague, friend, and invaluable asset to UT with 36 years in medical practice. Holt is named after Dr. Andrew David Holt, who served as president of the university from 1959 to 1970. He is remembered for his kindness and oversaw a period of tremendous growth.
