Vito J. Gautieri, Sr. lived 94 extraordinary years rooted in hard work, family, and service. Born July 1, 1931, in Batavia, N.Y., to John and Lucia, he carried forward the proud heritage of Calitri, Italy. After serving his country in the U.S. Army and furthering his education at RIT, Vito began what would become a decades-long journey in construction and development — shaping the skyline and community of Batavia and Western New York.
He was more than a builder of structures. As a founding member of the Paolo Busti Cultural Foundation, Vito helped preserve and share the traditions of his Italian ancestry. As a leader and Life Director of the Associated General Contractors of America and past President of the General Building Contractors of New York State, he lifted his profession. And as
