SARASOTA, Fla. (WWSB) - Although Erin has weakened it has grown into a monster sized storm. Tropical storm winds (35-74 mph) extend some 150 miles from the center in all directions.

It continues to move to the NW and a turn to the north is expected on Wednesday. This will keep the main core of the hurricane winds offshore of the N. Carolina and Virginia coast.

There is a storm surge warning is in effect for Cape Lookout to Duck, North Carolina The storm surge is going to be 2-4 feet, but it will be the 20ft. waves that will cause considerable beach erosion and flooding on the Outer Banks of N. Carolina on Thursday and Friday.

Deadly rip currents will be felt along most of the east coast of the U.S. beginning late Wednesday through Friday due to this powerful storm.
