DAYTON, Ohio (WDTN) -- The Dayton Public Schools Board of Education approved new safety policies for students riding RTA buses.

This comes just days after the district was granted a temporary restraining order against a new Ohio law prohibiting the use of public transit through transfer stations for students.

DPS will now be able to offer RTA bus passes to its students while their lawsuit against the State of Ohio proceeds through court.

During a meeting Tuesday night, DPS board members voted 4-3 to pass a resolution with new requirements for students using RTA buses to get to school.

The new policies require students to wear a visible student ID in order to ride. Students must also agree to comply with the RTA Code of Conduct.

These rules apply to both DPS and charter school students
