BONNEY LAKE, Wash. — Residents of Bonney Lake and Sumner are rallying behind the Bonney Lake-Sumner Little League team as the players take center stage at the Little League World Series.
The local athletes, some of whom sharpen their skills at the Elevate Tridents Sumner facility, have become hometown heroes as they chase championship dreams on one of youth baseball’s biggest platforms.
The team lost 9-0 to South Dakota on Tuesday night, eliminating them from the series.
But for young fans like Cannon Horton, seeing friends compete at such a high level has been deeply motivating.
"I have a few friends on that team who I know very well, and I really hope the best for them,” Horton said.
