MAHOPAC – School bells ring for the first time welcoming in the 2025-26 school year in two weeks and when children arrive at the Austin Road Elementary School in western Mahopac they will be in for quite a surprise since a colorful mural on the front of the building has been completed.

During a visit to the school Tuesday muralist Joe Pimentel of Newburgh was joined by the school’s PTO co-president Samantha Gumina.

Pimental explained being contacted by the school about creating the mural. “It’s the children who are the real heroes. They left their art on the wall and helped put this marvelous project together.”
