CLEVELAND, Ohio — Forty-year-old Joe Flacco was named starting quarterback for the Browns season opener against Joe Burrow and the Cincinnati Bengals.

Flacco won the job in an open competition against veteran Kenny Pickett and rookies Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders. Flacco was the last man standing among the group not only for his experience and still-lively arm, but the other three also had injury issues.

So now Flacco gets a chance to see if he can increase the “Wacko for Flacco” signs, reduce his interceptions and end up playing for a whole season.
