CLEVELAND, Ohio — Councilman Charles Slife is pushing back after Cleveland City Hall ramped up enforcement against residents who improperly left garbage on their curbs. He introduced legislation that would require officials to issue written warnings before issuing fines.
Slife’s legislation would give residents a chance to correct violations before facing penalties. First-time offenders would receive a written warning outlining the infraction, while a second violation and subsequent issues could still result in fines ranging from $25 up to $350.
