An investigation has been launched after a woman was racially abused on a train to Manchester Piccadilly.

British Transport Police are now appealing for the victim to come forward following the incident. Officers received reports of anti-social behaviour from a number of men on the service from Crewe to Piccadilly at around 11.15am on August 9.

The force said the men were behaving in an anti-social manner towards other passengers and that one man subjected a woman to 'sustained racial abuse.'

She is described as a black woman, around 50 years of age. She was wearing a white dress, with a white headdress.
