BATON ROUGE — Police said Wednesday they had accused a Baton Rouge man of holding a woman against her will, strangling her and injuring her dog.
Niquel Deon Harris, 36, was accused of false imprisonment and other charges after keeping a woman from leaving her Glen Oaks area home on July 25 while he was armed with a knife and a metal pipe, police said.
Investigators said Harris and the victim had argued. During a later confrontation, he allegedly attempted to strangle the woman twice but she was able to break free.
"The victim stated the accused armed himself with a kitchen knife and stood in front (of) the door all while preventing her from leaving stating, 'I will use this if you try to leave,'" an affidavit says.
