TRAVERSE CITY — The Traverse City Fire Department has upgraded its video laryngoscopy equipment as part of preparations to become the city’s primary EMS transport provider in July 2026.

According to an Aug. 20 news release, video laryngoscopes help paramedics safely place breathing tubes, a critical step in managing respiratory or cardiac emergencies. The department’s new devices provide sharper images, greater durability, and improved ergonomics, which officials say will lead to safer and more efficient care.

“Upgrading our video laryngoscopes allows our clinicians to provide the highest standard of airway care, even in the most difficult conditions,” Fire Chief Jim Tuller said. “It’s a crucial part of preparing to deliver full transport services with the best tools available.”
