EAST MOLINE, Ill. (KWQC) - The East Moline School District has some changes coming.

Some students in the district will be going to different schools next school year as the district has moved forward with plans for redistricting .

District leaders said the change is necessary to create savings because of the substantial amount they’ve been spending on the transportation budget.

“Well, unfortunately, part of that process started because we are running a deficit in our transportation fund. The state of Illinois is not paying us what they owe us and our transportation and haven’t for a long time. So we need to be really proactive in how we look at our neighborhoods and our boundaries.
