KANSAS CITY, Mo. (KCTV) - A local group that’s made it its mission to clean up the Little Blue River watershed is thankful for a group of Rockhurst High School students who removed an estimated 500 tires dumped along the Blue River Trail. They are also frustrated to see dumping activity continue to grow.
Dozens of Rockhurst students participated in the cleanup as part of their freshman service project on Tuesday. KCTV5 first reported on the ravine filled with an estimated 500 tires near the entrance to the Blue River Trail off Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard.
“I was borderline ecstatic about that, that they took care of the problem,” said Jeff Bowman. “I just wish that more people would care.”
